ABOUT JENNIFER LEGG

“The only way out is through, and I am here to support you through the journey.”
Hi Im Jen,
I know that reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step - especially if you're used to carrying things on your own, masking how difficult things feel, or putting everyone else's needs before your own.
My aim is to offer a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can feel safe enough to simply be yourself.
I work with adults, children, and young people experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, low mood, emotional exhaustion, addiction, and life changes. I also have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals, in a way that feels affirming, compassionate and adapted to their needs.
I understand that no two people experience the world in the same way. Therapy with me is not about fixing you - it's about helping you understand yourself more deeply, make sense of your experiences, and find ways to move forward that feel right for you.
Clients often tell me they appreciate having a space where they don't feel judged, rushed or pressured to explain themselves perfectly. I work gently and collaboratively, at your pace, building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, honesty, and emotional safety. Many of the people I work with have spent years feeling misunderstood, masking who they are, or believing they are "too sensitive" or "too much". Creating a space where people feel genuinely accepted is at the heart of my work.
Alongside my private practice, I also work for a charity supporting young people who are coping with grief and loss. This work has deepened my understanding of how loss, change and emotional pain can affect people in very different ways, and the importance of having a safe space where those feelings can be explored gently without judgment.
If you're considering counselling and would like to see whether we feel like the right fit, Id be very happy to hear from you.

CHILDRENS COUNSELLING
03
I offer counselling for children and young people, including those who are neurodivergent. I have a particular interest in working with autistic children and children with ADHD. I work from a neurodivergence-affirming perspective, valuing difference rather than trying to change a child’s way of being, adapting my therapeutic approach to suit different ways of thinking, feeling and communicating.
I work in a calm, relational way that respects each child’s individuality, supporting emotional wellbeing, self-understanding and confidence at their own pace.

REDUCED FEE SESSIONS

Neurodivergent support
I offer neurodivergent-affirming therapy for children, young people and adults, including autistic and ADHD clients.
Many neurodivergent people spend years feeling misunderstood, overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or pressured to hide parts of themselves in order to fit in. Therapy can provide a space where you no longer feel the need to mask, explain yourself perfectly, or meet unrealistic expectations.
My approach is warm, gentle, and adapted to each individual person. I understand that everybody experiences the world differently, and there is no "right" way to communicate, process emotions, or engage in therapy.
Some of the experiences neurodivergent clients may bring to therapy include:
-
Anxiety and overthinking
-
Sensory overwhelm
-
Emotional burnout
-
Masking and exhaustion
-
Emotional dysregulation
-
School-based anxiety
-
Difficulties with friendships
Therapy with me is collaborative and moves at your pace. There is no pressure for eye contact, no expectation to have the "right words," and absolutely no judgment around how you express yourself.
When working with children and young people, I often use creative strategies to help them feel comfortable expressing themselves in ways that feel natural and less overwhelming. This may include creative activities, visual tools, play, drawing, or other age-appropriate approaches to support emotional expression and connection.
FAQ's
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what has brought you to therapy. There is no pressure to share everything straight away, and we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I feel nervous about starting counselling - is that normal?
Yes completely. Many people feel anxious or unsure before their first session, especially if they are used to coping on their own or have never spoken to anyone about how they feel before. I aim to create a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to be yourself.
How long does therapy last?
This varies from person to person. Some benefit from short-term support focused on a specific issue, whilst others prefer longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns or experiences. We can regularly review how things are feeling together.
Will everything I say remain confidential?
Confidentiality is a very important part of therapy. What you share will remain private unless there are concerns about your safety or the safety of someone else. I will always explain confidentiality clearly before we begin working together.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes, I offer both online and face-to-face sessions.
